When I try to play avi files on my second display, I get sound, but the video is just black. The video plays normally on my primary monitor. It doesn't matter if I drag media center over to the second display, detach the video and drag it, or even start video playback in the second display. But, I am able to play the same video file in a program like Media Player Classic on both displays.
I am currently running Vista 64 bit. This was not a problem when I ran media center in XP. I also use K-Lite codec pack for my codecs (used this in XP as well)
Thanks for any ideas. Let me know if you'd like more info.

Any ideas? Media Center appears to be the only program unable to play videos on my second display.

Not sure. Try selecting a different video renderer. Tools -> Options -> Playback -> DirectShow Playback Settings... Select the file type (avi) from the list on the right-hand side, and click Select Filters button.

I have experienced this often.
After moving the display to the second monitor where the picture is black, try double-clicking on the picture to blow it up to full-screen and then again to resize to the original size.
While I do not understand why, this has always corrected the problem.

Yaobing: I switched the Video Renderer from "Video Mixing Renderer 9" to "Lagacy Video Renderer" for avi files, and this fixed the problem. :)
AoXoMoXoA: No luck on my computer. Thanks for the tip anyways.
Thanks for the help. I appreciate it!

Update: Video Mixing Renderer 9 still does not work, but Video Mixing Renderer 7 does.
Also, the same thing happens for .mpg files, not just .avi's.

We may have solved this problem. Wait for the next release.

Thanks for the feedback
