Title: MC restore (2 instead of 1)
Post by: Monkeyboy on February 16, 2007, 02:30:33 am
Hi there,
Can I bring this to the attention of a J River admin.
I did a restore earlier and for some reason I got 2 restore e-mails saying I have 9-restores left then 8-restores left. I am quiet sure I didn't click the button twice but may have as its early and I could be a bit twitchy. Can you please add a restore to my account.
Is there a way this can be combatted, like they have for button where you pay, i.e. you press them and can't press them again?

Thanks,
Richard

Same thing happened to me the other day - though I think I know what caused it. Firefox said it had prevented the website from sending a file. When I told FF it was OK to receive the file, it received it. As far as the J River website is concerned it was sent twice, so that's two restores. I guess.

Backing through the page can do it.

Let us know if you run out.  We can fix it then.

it happened to me a few times. and i think i found out how. when doing a restore you get the page but the popup blocker kills the popup. clicking on allow popup gives the restore, and two emails. the last time i remembered to keep the ctrl down and it did not happen.

Thanks Jim, I'll let you know if I run out then and use this as my get out of jail free card  :)

Thanks for the responses also gappie and prod , I was using firefox 2 and it did the whole popup block thing so that does make sense.

Cheers,
Richard

lol.  Worried when you still have 8 more to go...why do you NEED a restore added back?  wait 'till there's a problem.  You've documented the issue.

I've added a fudge factor in: if you do two restores in a very brief period, they only count as one. You'll still get two e-mails, but the second will show the same number of restores as the first - you didn't get counted for it.

benn600, don't say something on a topic if its not useful. I have documented the issue because I said what I said!
I was wanting to check a possible issue with the service and as much as make sure I didn't run out of restores, because with MC11 I had 1 left so maybe that one I lost is important this year.

You'll probably need every restore you can get your hands on this year if you're planning on a Vista upgrade :) Not knocking MC of course, it's working great with Vista, but I'm on install number 14 for some reason or other. I must have too much time on my hands.

Save your restores by using the Install Key.  Install Keys are good for 14 days.

Forever the voice of reason. I prefer the click and hope approach. All that right clicking aggravates my RSI.

PS: Only joking.

Do you want to give a quick overview of the licensing process again.  Assuming a license was purchased, what are the steps, info required, etc.  I think it would be nice to have a step by step overview which I will refer to from time to time.
