It would be cool if newer versions allowed for left-right splits rather than up-down. With cover art displaying above the action window, such a new split would allow users to display their playing now to the side rather than at the top or bottom.

efjay, I totally concur. I'm not sure if it was you that mentioned it before, but each time this suggestion gets run up the flag pole I make a point of saluting it while standing on my head. With all the assorted doo-dads being added top-and-bottom, space is running out for split views. However, by happy coincidence, monitor aspect ratios are geting wider, AND, customers are getting two or even three (as in the case of JimH). So it makes sense from a practical standpoint. Therefore:
(jgreen mounts the podium and clears his throat)
"I call on jriver to boldly go where no media management and playback software has gone before! JRiver: you lead and we shall follow--'we few, we happy few, we band of brothers!'"
There.

Yes, I support this too. On a wide screen it makes more sense than the vertical split.
-
jgreen: don't let all that blood drain into your brain, you never know what could happen! :o ;D
...but I agree with both of you and I'm sitting on my butt.

Yes, splitting view verticaly would be very great.
I am waiting for this for a long time!
And I have another request : the option to "lock" a view...
I explain: most of the time, MC is splitted into two view, with one especially for Playing Now. And when I type CTRL+F to search something in my library, my playing now view is "filtered" with the keywords I typed in the search field. So I have alway to refresh the Playing Now view, because I can't drag & drop files in it when it is filtered... it's a little bit annoying...
-
Thank you Andromak, I forgot to mention that. Yes, the ability to "lock" a view would be a welcome usability feature, even now. But with vertical split views i think this would be essential.
Of course, all of this smacks of version 13, if you ask me. Still, there's no stopping a dreamer . . .

Great news - makes far more sense on my wide screen monitor! :)
