Title: MC 12 Installation: What is Being Downloaded?
Post by: Gl3nn on February 21, 2007, 10:57:12 pm
When I install MC12, something called 'Windows Media Format Redistribution' [package] is downloaded and installed.

What is that?  And what does it do? It appears to add some kind of service to XP...?

Thanks.

See http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=38421.0 (http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=38421.0).

It's the package installation for that afaik.

Correct.  We're chasing an install problem right now.  It can cause multiple downloads of Windows Media on some machines.

Ah... OK.  Thanks.

I'm a little bit leery of Microsoft in these days of WGA and WGA Notification.   ::)

But if it's OK w/ J River, that's cool w/ me...
