Is this just my computer or do other people have this issue? When I start playing a DVD, even if it doesn't jump to fullscreen, Vista immediately disables Aero Glass and goes to the plain, opaque theme. When I close MC, it returns to Aero Glass.
-
That's normal Vista-behavior. (depending on how the program render graphics)
-
It's a horrible normal Vista-behavior.
With two monitors, I see the change on my second monitor and it doesn't return until I restart MC. It's annoying!
-
It usually safes a lot of performance. The main purpose is of course for games. But an OS hardly can separate a game from a "normal" application. And believe me ... without disabling Aero in some cases, you would begin to hate Vista ;)
-
I'm not sure this is related to dvd playback. I get the prompt about vista disabling aero at seemingly random moments, even when nothing's playing. When I'm not even playing any video, surely vista shouldn't have any problems with aero?
-
This is NOT 'normal' Vista behaviour. If I play a DVD with WMP11 or Media Player Classic, Aero remains. If I play the DVD through MC12 I get a compatibility warning and Vista drops out of Aero.
-
Thank you! That is exactly what I notice. VLC plays full screen video without any issues, such as disabling aero. Does this happen for others? It is especially annoying with multiple monitors because then I work in a non-aero environment until I close MC!
I never see aero close unless I start playing video in MC. My computers is fast enough to not randomly say, uhoo, I guess I'm not fast enough once you actually start using me!

Simply switch the video mixer MC uses for DVD playback.
VMR 9 and EVR will work with aero. Some filters don't like these newer modes, so the MC default is to use overlay mixing.
Look in Options > Playback > DVD playback settings...

Matt,
As I mentioned, I also get this error but when playing audio files. Could this be due to a visualisation? I haven't found settings to set the renderer for the visualisations...(i'm using clean'n tidy2)
