Title: Streaming Issues
Post by: daveg on March 06, 2007, 02:23:16 pm
The following stream does not play unless you add a .wma at the end.
MC is the only player of the 5 tried that does this. Although the time seems to count backwards

mms://a1503.l1086933677.c10869.g.lm.akamaistream.net/D/1503/10869/v0001/reflector:33677

The following stream does not play unless you remove everything after the 32070 and add a .wmv
MC is the only player of the 5 tried that does this.

mms://a1503.l1086932070.c10869.g.lm.akamaistream.net/D/1503/10869/v0001/reflector:32070?ct3=-1&ct4=mlb&ct5=06-Mar-07

Most of the streams I have tried I have to play with the links to get it working. It is hard because unlike the ones above they are feeds that time out if you don't find the right combo

Thanks a lot for the details.  Both of those will be fixed in the next build.

We weren't analyzing the server-reported MIME type for streams that started with mms://.

There was also an issue with servers that didn't support HEAD requests nicely, so we'll handle that as well.

This is still a problem for me with the current build....I need to manually massage the url to get it to work. As these feeds time out after 30 or so seconds, it is becoming more frustrating to get streams to work that no other player has issues with. Is this going to be looked at??

Still a problem with v12.0.198...But it is even harder to get the streams to play in MC. You have to Do trial and error with the streams to get them to work.
Can anyone offer any suggestions.

An example would be the following
mms://a1024.v10869f.c10869.g.vm.akamaistream.net/7/1024/10869/v0004/mlb.download.akamai.com/10869/2007/mlb_!/tv/archive03/032407_dethou_tv_350.wmv?auth=ca.cEaQchcydraNaBcOavaTaxcjc0dYdGcV-bgbOmS-bA-VefwmM9z-jfj9l6jdjfjclllgm2m9ldlbj5lhlhmajnjil3j7jdjd&aifp=v0004&ct5=25-Mar-07&ct1=mlb&ct3=175479&ct4=mlb&ct6=216.58.96.135

You basically have to take out everything after the auth= field. But not always!! I haven't figured out a way to easily play these steams that no other player has any issues with.

These are password protected streams that you will not be able to access as they time out if not started in 1 minute after creation

Also cannot play ESPN radio stream anymore.  No problems in any other player I have tried.

The following feed crashes MC.

mms://media.sportsbyline.com/sportsbyline.com

No other media player has an issue with this stream.

Also still having the problem of streams getting "stuck" after Playing for a while.
I can send a screen shot if anyone is out there.. The total time playing stops while the elapsed time keeps going. That is when the crash happens.

I must say that I agree here.  VLC plays this stream without issue, but MC just seems to "ignore" my command when I do File --> Open URL and enter this address.  It doesn't give an error, but also doesn't play at all.

You need to use http:// instead of rtsp:// and Media Center will work.

We'll change this in a coming build.

Build 202 (and later) will fix the stall after a while of streaming. (like over an hour with ESPN radio)

Thanks for the heads up.

New version fixes some problems but creates more.
ESPN feed still doesn't work for me.
I have a few more that I will post in another thread.

But the Live feed RW/FF  not work anymore.  You can pause streams, but not rewind/FF.
