Title: Media Center Remote Control and MC12
Post by: prod on March 13, 2007, 12:57:18 pm
A friend of mine has a (Microsoft) Media Center Remote Control he doesn't use, so he's trying to off-load it on to me - does it work with or is there any way it can be adapted to work with MC12? I'm sure it's a daft question, of course it can't.

Yes it does work, as long as you have the proper IR receiver.

I have a Fujitsu Siemens Scaleo E, with the IR receiver built in.  IIRC, the IR receiver uses the USB bus internally, and a lot of the MCE remote keys work as expected in JRiver: e.g. Enter, Transport & cursor keys, back, etc.  What doesn't seem to work properly are the telephone-style letter keys and the media function keys (TV, Music, Pictures, etc.)  I am actually using a universal RC emulating the MCE remote.  What is the best way to get these additional functions in JRiver?  Are there Philips Pronto CCF codes or files for JRiver "native" RC commands (if there is such a thing)?  Can JRiver "learn" thes keys from the MCE remote?  Is some kind of plug-in necessary?  If so, which one?  I have already tried IRMAN and USB-UUIRT, but both refuse to start.
