I currently keep 2 copies of my songs, one in lossless and one at 128b MP3 for use with my iPod. I currently use MC for the lossless playback and iTunes for sync’ing with the iPod. Is it possible for MC to manage both sets of files?
Ideally I’d like to see the songs listed once and managed as one (i.e. playlists, ratings, etc) and have MC sort out which files get sent to the iPod.
I saw a similar request over in MC11 but guessed there was no longer any effort being put into MC11 so I posted here.
If anyone has a better way to do this I am open to it!

I use MC12 to sync my Creative Zen Vision:W and my ipod. I have my music ripped in FLAC and MC transcodes to mp3 when syncing to the handhelds. I also set up a conversion cache (an MC12 option) which keeps a cached copy of the mp3 version in a separate folder so it doesn't have to retranscode when you update song metadata or to sync to my second device. It works quite nicely.

That sounds about like what I want to do. I'll have to look into upgrading to MC12.
thanks!

One other question, can you control where that cache is located?
Hope so.

Yes you can.
