Title: CD Ripping Slowed Down From 12.0.164 To 12.0.184
Post by: globetrotters1 on March 14, 2007, 01:14:57 pm
I just saw that the maximum ripping speed of a CD was 20-24x with version 12.0.164 - compared to the "new program version" I have installed where it is 7-8x...

Can someone tell me if that has been fixed in the upcoming build too?

Thanks guys

test result for the latest build:

9.4 x

probably there is a setting somewhere (I just didn't find) to speed that up to the speed of 12.0.164?

If nothing changed in your hardware, and the same rip/encode settings are used in MC, the speed should be pretty much the same. Things to check:
1. cd-rom drive using DMA (sometimes XP disables DMA without user knowledge because of intermittent drive errors)
2. were you using a faster encoder before like the "GoGo" mp3 encoder?
3. were you using normal rip mode before and now it's set to "secure" which is about half the speed?
