Title: Skips when recording Line-in

When I record one side of a vinyl lp using line-in (about 20 mins.) I am getting one or two skips in the playback.
I have all other programs closed when I record and playback, and I am not using the auto song detect feature. I record one solid side of an album. Is there some kind of adjustment I can make?

The machine may not be fast enough.  Or the screen saver or other power saving features are causing it.

Don't use the PC for anything else to see if that helps.  

Try capturing as APE or Raw Wav.
