Is anyone using Library Server with Vista?
I can't seem to get it to work here.
The Client is running XP Pro. It knows of
the Vista server, since it displays it in a list,
but can't actually seem to load it for some reason.
I'm guessing I've not turned off enough firewall stuff
in vista.

Try the "manually test the connection" here:

Hmm it happily downloads the library file when I go
to the address, and port number.
-
Is it trying to download the library from the client? Check the server status page to see if the library request is there.
What happens if you specify the IP address instead of searching for servers?

There were no requests on the server status page when I tried to connect
from the client. There were if I downloaded the library by going to
http://mystery:90/GetLibrary
If I manually try to add the library within the Library manager
specifying the location as
http://mystery:90/GetLibrary
or
http://mystery:90/
The client opens a library which is empty.
if I specify the library as
\\mystery:90
It says it can't find it.
I'm not sure I'm doing this correctly.

Figure out the IP address (see the wiki link above), and add a library with the name:
1.2.3.4:90
Then load that library (replace 1.2.3.4 with your IP address).

OK that loaded ok. :)

Okay - so the problem is with the auto-detect feature.
I'll give it a try here, and if I can't reproduce it, I'll ask you for a network sniff.
Thanks,

What do you mean "displays it in a list"?
Are there multiple library servers available on your network?
I don't know about the firewall, if the manual test worked, it should work for auto-detect as well.

Correct, multiple library servers.
So a list is presented with which one to select.
The vista machine can be seen by the XP machine.
So the auto gizmo is getting a response back from it's broadcast.
It just fails to load the library for some reason.

Okay, can you make a network sniff of the process and e-mail it to me (gateley @ jriver.com).
The network sniff info is here:
