Title: My son just purchased a new e250 Sansa, any tips or gotcha's I need to know

After saving his money for the last 5 months, my 9 year old just purchased an e250 (2gig) at Officemax for $99.  I've been using MC for the past several years and use ver 12 w/ my Ipod Video.  My question is what should we look out for when using MC and the Sansa?  I've done some searching but it's hard to tell if past problems have been fixed with new versions of MC.

I'd like to know more about comments like "Because the Sansa players present so many problems while in MSC mode we suggest that you transfer/sync with the device in MTP mode."

Issues with playlist, sync, microSD card, etc?  Thanks!!!

From my own personal experience:

- Not all album art appears.  From reading around, this sounds like a general problem with the Sansa.
- Ratings set on the Sansa don't get downloaded.  Sames goes with playlists, so the statistics don't get updated in MC
- Can't upload pictures or videos in MC.  This is also a general problem with the Sansa.
- Can only access MicroSD card in MTP mode.

Other than those, tho, I think it works great.  I have no problem putting music on my Sansa, and transcoding to other formats work great (I store my music on my PC as FLAC).  For most of what I use my portable player for, MC has been pretty good.  I'm hoping that jriver is working on some of the shortcomings, since some of that is probably solvable.

If MC won't transfer the videos, do you just use the sansa convert program?  I read somewhere you should run the video convert program with the sansa disconnected to increase speed.  If the sansa is in MTP mode, how do I get the videos/pictures on it?

Any issues with playlists/smartlists?

I haven't really fooled around with smartlists and syncing with smartlists yet.  I'm still building my library.  I assume that it would work, tho.  I have had no problem adding and removing songs from my Sansa.

In my experience, album art will display 100% of the time if the jpg is embedded in the mp3 file AND the jpg is 32kb or LESS.  That last part is crucial.  Embedded jpg's greater than 32k in size WILL NOT display.
