Title: SOLVED! Media Center 12.0.189 has trouble with Nero

It seems as though my mysterious crashing-on-import problem with Media Center 12.0.x has been solved! The culprit, apparently, is a conflict with a bad Nero DirectShow filter.

I just uninstalled Nero 7 on my Vista machine, and MC12 works fine now: it imports any and all files (mp3s, videos, graphics, you name it) and plays/views them with no trouble whatsoever!

If anyone else has run into problems with MC12 crashing on a Vista machine, check to see if you have Nero 7+ installed. Once I got rid of Nero, everything was back to normal. (Of course, now I have to find a different CD/DVD-burning solution, but still....)

Thanks to all who helped with this *extremely* abstruse problem!
