Title: Visualisations Highest Quality
Post by: Mr ChriZ on March 29, 2007, 01:13:54 pm
Can anything be done about the performance of Visualisations on Highest Quality?
I'm trying to use the Bleading Cover Art Visualisation which is a really nice visualisation.
However on High quality the text is really quite blurry.

The machine runs it fine.

If I run it on Highest Quality the text is sharp.
However.... My system can't even manage jumpy.
It's more like Giant Leaps for man kind.

I've noticed this with other visualisations also.

I'm running on a X2 Dual Core 5000 here, with 2GB of Memory,
and an ATI Radeon 1300 256MB graphics card, so I don't think
machine spec here is really an issue.

Why are High and Highest so far apart?

Try upgrading to quad-quad core processors.  Sometimes you just gotta spoil yourself a bit.

Youknow, this has really bugged me for the longest time too. The blurry text at anything less than the "highest" setting is really strange. I mean, displaying standard fonts should not be that CPU intensive and should always be sharp regardless of the viz quality setting in use. Is there no way of rectifying this please?

Thanks.

It's the resolution!  Every mode uses a very low resolution which is annoying.  I'd rather be able to increase the resolution if I choose to do so with the understanding that it will probably slow way down (frame rate).

Hmmm... well, it would be nice if text or fonts appeared crisp and sharp regardless of what viz quality setting is used.

At first I did not totally understand what ChriZ and raym were refering to, but after playing around with the settings I can definitely see the difference.  The text looks great on the highest setting, but that setting seems to be so CPU intensive that most visualizations will not function properly.  It would be nice if there was a way to simply isolate the text only and make it crisp and sharp on all settings.
