Title: Feature request: VLC as an engine for MC (if possible...)

Since VLC doesn't use DirectShow, if, at least as an option, one could choose it as an engine for media playback, I think it would vastly enhance MC media format handling capabilities.

I have no idea if it's possible at all, but since someone wrote (or at least tried to) something similar for a linux player, I guess it can be done:
