iTunes Toolbar
Hey. Not sure if this is the correct section.
I have been using iTunes up until today. Now I use J River, you offer much more :)
iTunes had a mini player on your toolbar:

Is there something similar with J River?

I personally am a fan of the mini mode. The default noire skin is very efficient, small, and has no junk in it. I highly recommend checking it out.

I do use the Noire skin. Very sleek indeed.
Though I would enjoy it much more with a toolbar like iTunes as
it takes less space on my taskbar and is always on top of every window. The mini
mode doesn't stay on top.
Has anyone developed or in the making of such a toolbar?
-
not that I'm aware of, no.
options open to you go along the lines of:
- load a different mini skin, right click on it and choose the 'always on top' option. now switch back to the 'slim' mini skin and you will find that it's now always on top.
- you might find the playingnow plugin (http://207.58.131.114/~mrblobby/forum/index.php?&showforum=12) interesting.
or... - extract this zip file (http://www.theganghut.co.uk/files/mc/mct.zip) to your C: drive and then right click on your taskbar, and choose 'toolbars > new toolbar' then browse to "C:\Media Center Toolbar\" and choose the 'Media Center' folder. Next, make sure your taskbar is unlocked, then right click on it and remove the titles and name, slide it to where you want to keep it, and finally, relock the taskbar. You can replace the icon files in the !default folder with other icons to get different buttons, just keep the filenames the same. If you want 'rating' buttons, add the shortcut files to the toolbar folder and they'll show up in the taskbar.

Thank you Marko. That is exactly what I have been looking for.
Much appreciated ;)

The shortcuts in the toolbar is a cool option, however, I find it kind of slow to respond and I loose some of the icons as I open more programs and I have to click on the little arrow to get the back.
As for a mini-mode ala I-Tunes and Windows Media Player, I am working on a dll that will work in a similar fashion.

Currently it can only control five basic functions: on/off, play/pause, stop, next, and previous. The look of it isn't spectacular but it is doing what I need so far. I am planning on integrating a now playing feature and volume control once I figure out how to "talk" with MC a little better.
I would like to know if there is any interest in this dll. It would not be a plug-in at this point, but a windows extension. I have a very rudimentary installer system that is not fully tested. Also, anyone with c# experience is welcome to help.

Yeah it's a cool idea. I missed this taskbar since I use Mc. If you can create such a control .dll - it would be create. But the users need framework - am I right?
-
i'm definetely interested, and i'm sure lots of others will be too.

I'm interested too ;)

I'm interested too.
You should look at integrating with snarl (http://www.fullphat.net/) for playing now pop-up window type functionality.

I'm interested also.
Any chance that we can rate the current track with it?
