Title: mj cuts out/rebuffers lots when listening whilst surfing
Post by: kandarohidharmapala on August 27, 2002, 03:15:42 am
i like music while i surf, but as soon as i connect to the internet, mj starts cutting out and rebuffering in fairly regular fashion, and is not really listenable to. i dont recall this problem with version 7, but i did not have a full hard drive when i was using that, as i do now. (only 75M left!). is version 8 more ram hungry or something, and is this the reason for it cutting out if i connect to the web or launch my browser? i only have 64M of ram on this old pentium 2.

If you mean that you are playing local files, try changing the option for "more responsive <--> more skip resistant".

i suppose i could try that, but would it affect the sound quality to adjust towards more skip resistant? i am very happy with the sound i have now, and would find it tecious to adjust this setting every time i go online, only to have to put it back again to enjoy my present excellent sound quality when i want to listen offline.
anyway, no one has yet explained to me why mj should startthis cutting out behavior only when i either log on to the web, (isp force9.net) or launch my browser (opera6.04), and be o.k. other than right at the start of a playlist for 10 seconds or so, which i can live with.
