Title: Rename file on synch
Post by: andrewq on April 07, 2007, 06:30:25 pm
Is it possible to rename the files I am sending to my handheld player when I synch? I'd like to be able to pad the file name with a two digit track number so that they sort correctly on the player (it doesn't support playlists).

e.g.

artist-track.mp3 becomes 01artist-track.mp3

(with the track number being filled from the ID3 tag and padded to two digits).

I've played around with the Audio Path filed in the Handheld Options but it only seems to support directories not file renaming. Is there a way to do this?

I was able to rename them manually after the sync via Tools -> Library  Tools -> Rename Files From Properties.

But an option to do that automatically during the sync would be even nicer.

Also, does anybody know if it's possible to set up a rule to create directories and "group" the files by artist?
e.g. : A-E, F-M, N-T, U-Z.

My player has a limit on the number of dirs it will read, so I kinda need that capability.
