Title: managing playlists slow
Post by: Sauzee on April 16, 2007, 05:28:19 am
When managing playlists using the action window, MC is painfully slow.

It takes about 5 seconds for my playlists to appear, after i've clicked playlists in the action window.

If this isn't an issue with my setup, are there any plans to improve performance in this area?

The same is true when tagging.

It was so slow before, I actually went out and spent $2000 on a new dual core computer. It's still too slow. It's the first time I can't solve an issue like this by trowing better hardware at the problem...  :(

I sure hope something can be done. Tagging and playlist management is really painful right now.

Michel.

I've forgotten.  Are the files on a network drive or usb drive, etc?  Or local?  If they aren't local, please test a local library.

My issue is not with tagging being slow, only with the fact that it takes several seconds for my playlists to appear after i click playlists in the action window. All files are local. This has been an issue with all builds of 12.

All files are on local, internal hard drives.

My playlist action window takes ~12 seconds to open.

If I leave the playlist action window open, moving from one view scheme to another can take anything between 5 and 8 seconds.

In build 214 (and later):
Fixed: Clicking Action Window > Tag > Playlists could be overly slow. (smartlists were getting needlessly evaluated)

Sorry for the hassle.  Hopefully 214 (or newer) will be publicly available later this week.
