Title: Playback with EVA700
Post by: stubbsy on April 30, 2007, 06:33:01 am
I have what is probably a dumb newbie question, but I've read and read and can't quite work this one out :'(

I have MC running on my PC and a whole stack of audio & video files there and on my NAS (Thecus 5200).  Let's say I put a Netgear EVA700 in another room and hook it up to my home theatre.  This is where I get lost.  To play back an audio file or a video file do I just choose it the way I normally would in MC and it plays at the other end being decoded by the EVA700 or do I just use MC for cataloging and creating playlists which I choose from the EVA700 to play back an audio or video file.

I ask this question since if it's the former then using NetRemote on my PDA would make a sweet way to control things. But then that may be wishful thinking  ;)

Playback is controlled by the Netgear - not by Media Center.

Thanks John for the speedy reply - even if it wasn't the answer I was hoping for.  Makes the EVA8000 or the DLink DSM-750 a better proposition I guess since I can't use MC except for playlisting etc.
