I've been running MC12.0.207 on Vista Ultimate 64-bit for a while now and things have been peachy. I use MC to play Apple DRM content and FLAC encoded rips. I have iTunes installed to download iTunes DRM content.
Recently iTunes popped up that there was an update so I let it upgrade. I assume this was in response to that security bug lately. I also have had a couple of dead computers so I decided to 'de-authorize all' iTunes and then re-authorize my actual machines.
All this worked fine from iTune perspective, but DRM content would no longer playback on MC. I figure maybe I needed to re-install MC. So I downloaded and installed 12.0.222 and MC was happy again. Later, I quit MC and re-start it and... no iTunes DRM playback! Hmm. So I re-install MC again and... works!
So, MC will play back the iTunes DRM content right after the install, but if I quit and re-start the program, it won't work. I've tried this several times and it always the same. I've also tried rebooting, but just quiting is enough to make it stop working.
I did the same upgrade on my other machines which are both XP 32-bit and neither has the problem. You can quit, restart and everything plays fine.
Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Thanks,
-john

I don't know, but try disabling the itunes programs that run in the background. Try uninstalling itunes.
The security fix was for QuickTime only, I believe. There's a link to the QT download in this thread:

You have to be careful when you download or you'll get itunes, too.

Thanks, I tried re-installing QT (I was already at 7.1.6) with no effect. I want iTunes, so uninstalling it isn't optimal for me. I tried updating to 12.0.226 w/no effect.
I killed off all iTunes things with task manager and no effect -- works after install but if you quit and restart it won't play Apple DRM content.
Any other ideas?
Thanks,

After the last post, things went downhill. I tried un-installing and re-installing both iTunes and MC. After one of those, DRM stuff wouldn't play anymore at all via MC. I updated MC a couple of times and also iTunes/QT once or so. No effect.
Today I just took the iTunes 7.3.1.3 update and presto, DRM started working in MC again. Of course, there have also been a few MS Windows updates, but I'd suspect iTunes is more likely.
I pushed my luck and installed MC 12.0.279 and things are still working.

MC uses QT to play the DRM content from Apple, but I think iTunes has to initialize the PC first.
