Hey, it's been a while since I posted. However, I've been keeping up with all the builds of MC12, and I have to say I am very impressed. MC12 now has quite a bunch of subtle "moments of delight" which really make it special. Previous versions were great in terms of raw power, but didn't have quite the polish that MC12 is showing.
Some examples:
1) Recognizing the type and *color* of iPods plugged in
2) The way you enter and exit theater view
3) Theater view speed and graphics in general
4) Management of video playback
5) *** New smartlist editor
Great job!

I don't want to be missing anything, and I'm not sure what this one means:
2) The way you enter and exit theater view
What is this referring to?
Thanks for clarification,
Larry

Did anyone mention Tabs? :)

You should probably go ahead and mention them just to be safe.

I listen mostly to classical music. I use MC 11/12 for ripping, editing tags and playing classical music and the rest of my collection. I haven't found another player that is even acceptable for my use. My list of what delights me in MC 11/12:
1. Being able to use Flac files with whatever tags I want (Flac-plugins, thank you Scott!)
2. Being able to easily specify all those tag values when I rip (securely)
3. Being able to browse using any combination of tags
4. Being able to define multiple views and view schemes.
5. Being able to edit tags and to do bulk edits in the player
6. Bi-directional filtering lets me do a variety of planned and ad-hoc searches in the same view scheme.
Yeah, Tabs will be useful to me but MC 11/12 was already so much better than any alternative I found.
Think about the moments of delight you would not be having with another player.

Speed kills, baby.
Filtering in both directions was a revelation and the quick searches have made browsing just about perfect. (Can we add on the fly pane sorting, like in the library view?)

MC v12 is certainly a grade above MC11.1 in many respects.
6. Filter in both directions (I forgot it was a v12 thing).
You didn't forget, it isn't. Bi-Directional filtering was actually right there in v11.1
I find it interesting how it can often take a while for a feature here, or there, to get noticed.
Tabs are only 'OK-ish' in my book atm because I really, really, miss the reset selection option when using them. Give us that and I'll be 'tabs all the way, baby'
The new image handling/tagging features are most excellent. I've been moaning for years that photos are for sharing, and now we can. pix01 anyone?
I can now, finally, set an image caption and send it to my Mum, and when that image opens in her chosen photo software, she gets to read the caption. Lovely stuff.
Search list panes are really neat too. Just in case anyone missed it, if you apply sorting rules to the search list entries, you can have control over the sorting of the file list depending upon which search item you select in the pane. "Newest first" or "Oldest first" for example.
I could go on, but I won't. I'm not a great fan of these gushing threads even though they are often deserved. If JRiver start resting on their laurels, we'll never get that reset selection option sorted out ;) :D

I'm just happy the lil Cover art pictures in the detail lines are back.
I was one of the people that hated them in the previous version of MC (10 I think) but when they were removed it just wasn't the same...
I guess I'm just a simple guy....

I don't think these guys do any resting on their laurels.
FWIW, I spend so much of my day sitting on my laurels that when I finally get up and go to the fridge for a beer, the left laurel's all cramped and gone numb-like, so I have to kind of hop one-footed just to fetch a brewski.
