I'm trying to stream to my Yamaha receiver and get the following error in the log of the media server.
Does anyone know of a solution?

You might have better luck with MC12. There have been a number of changes. The trial is free.

Back on this project...I have downloaded the latest build 12.0.251 and get the same result.
I noticed the uPNP server is a later version.
Do I need to open a port on the router...I assumed not since it is internal on my network?
If I launch Windows Media Connect, it connects fine...what is the difference in uPNP implementation?
Here is the log....any thoughts?

"Cannot autodetect" just means the server does not know what settings to use for your player.
Can you play music? What exactly is going wrong?

When I go to the uPNP menu on the receiver, it just shows 0 / 0 devices available. It's as if the receiver doesn't see MC. Net radio feature works fine on receiver, so I think it's on the network OK.
-
It's getting the device description, so it is seeing the server, but it doesn't like it for some reason.
Try playing with the options, especially any pertaining to URLs.

John,
I tried various combinations of the options in Advanced and always got the same result, but different from Automatic Detection.

I noticed that there are some device-specific profiles out there...any chance of getting one defined for the Yahama?
Is there any type of trace or more detailed log file that would help troubleshoot?
Thanks
-
I'll define one for the Yamaha, sure, but I have to know what it is first :)
The next step is to do a network sniff and e-mail that to me. It's best if you have a server that it works with so I can look at them both, figure out what it isn't liking about ours.

John,
I fired up Wireshark and did a trace of MC interacting with the Yamaha, but it turned out to be 9MB. As I look through the packets there are a ton of them between my NAS (where all my song files are stored) and my host PC (running MC).
I also tried to fire up Windows Media Connect to get a successful trace because I SWEAR that it worked when I first got my Yamaha last summer. Turns out now that the Yamaha will connect to WMC and display the server name, but when I try to browse to Artisis or Songs, I get 0 / 0 listed. I also tried the sharing in WMP 11, which I think is the same as WMC and got the same result.
I implemented the NAS soon after I got the Yamaha last summer (lightning strike fried old receiver and I got concerned over backups), so it occurs to me that it might have been working only when the music was still served off the C: drive...? Any of this make any sense?
Given all that background, if you think the one trace I got will be of any help, let me know where to email it (your address is hidden in your profile). I suppose I could move a small folder back to C: and create a local library to test if it were possible that serving the files from the NAS is an issue?...let me know how to proceed.

That would produce a better log.
-
A small library is much better for me. Send it to gateley @ jriver.com
Try the small local library on WMC too, see if that helps.

John,
Just bumpimg this to see if the trace I sent was helpful?
-
Hi Andy - I either never received it or accidentally deleted it, could you resend?

John,
I've lost track of this thread. I called myself sending a wireshark trace twice, but didn't ever get any response. I can send again if necessary. I'm getting this in the log file....

The Yamaha can see Windows Media Connect, but I don't have my library defined to WMC.
Any ideas, or do I need to send the Wireshark files again?
Thanks....
-
Could you send again please? With "RX-N600" in the subject somewhere so I don't lose it...
Thanks...

John,
Based on your email, the Denon is doing DLNA, not uPnP. I noticed an entry in build 243 about adding experimental fix for DLNA support. Did that go away...I'm on 12.0.279?
Please advise when a perm fix might be available.
Thanx
-
It was an experimental quick fix, and didn't work, sorry...
