Title: Item not currently available (MP101)
Post by: MP101User on May 11, 2007, 12:16:14 pm
Hi there,

I have noticed that one album (in the same location and ripped the same as the others) does not play via my MP101. The unit says "Item not currently available".
It plays fine through the MC on the PC.

I'm not sure what the problem could be. All files are WMA lossless on a hard drive inside the PC. Any clues to help me track down the problem? I'm not sure where to start. Everything else seems to play fine on both PC and MP101.

Thanks,

Mark.

Is it ripped any differently than the others? DRM?

Afraid not. Ripped, like the rest of the library, from CD with DRM disabled.

Make a sniff and e-mail it to me (gateley @ jriver.com)
Instructions are at

Will be with you soon. Hope it makes some sense (I can't really tell whether I did the sniffing thing right or not).

Have noticed that I get the message on all three "Televisions Greatest Hits" albums. They all have a large number of short tracks (60+ averaging about a minute in length).

Don't know if this has anything to do with it?

Good luck!

You must set the UPnP server to 'MP101'. It cannot autodetect the MP101.

The MP101 requires the artist, genre and other fields to be non-blank (in your case the artist was blank).
Choosing the MP101 in the server options will set the property to replace blanks with "Unknown".

Ah! Thank you.

I've changed the Artist flag to "Unknown" for the offending files (most of the tracks on the albums in question).

I don't set JRiver to "MP101" as I can't then turn off the replacement of international characters, and with it set as I have it the MP101 works fine for Björk, Motörhead, Café Bleu etc etc... (Setting MC12 to "MP101" results in Bj?rk, Mot?rhead, Caf?).

I thought the only tag that caused problems from being empty was Genre, so I'd been careful to fill all those.

Thanks again for the excellent service.

You can do this:
1) set the UPnP server to MP101.
2) Then set it to Advanced. The settings for the MP101 will remain highlighted.
3) Change the International Character option.
