Can anyone help me please? I have been using MC12 with no problems, but today whenever I playback there is slight distortion and a crackling noise. This only happens with MC. I have used different speakers and headphones, and different audio devices, but to no avail. When I use Windows Media Player, for example, the sound is fine.
TIA

Make sure everything is turned off in DSP Studio. (equalizer button on the player towards the top right of the program)
Also, make sure the volume is turned up so the amp isn't overdriving the signal.

I've tried both of those: no luck.

Try changing MC playback options between direct sound and wave out.

If it helps I had this problem and it went away but seems to have come back in recent builds.
For me it is related to network activity. If I am transferring large amounts of data MC starts to crackle.
If I stop the transfers things go back to normal.

Does it only happen in MC, or does it happen no matter what on your system (using other media players, for example)? Try playing back an MP3 file using WiMP and then doing stuff that causes the crackling to happen and see if you can get it to happen...
One of my systems has a very cheap onboard sound device (craptastic Intel onboard sound on an Intel-branded D975XBX motherboard) and it crackles anytime there is a lot of disk activity on the system. It happens with all the media players on the system though. Updating the sound card drivers (Intel Studio Audio) helped a little, but I ended up just getting an M-Audio card for the system eventually, and the problem completely went away then.
Too bad because otherwise it's a great motherboard. Just wish they had gone with a RealTek HD Audio chipset on the i975X chipset rather than cheaping out with the in-house option.

No, it only happens in MC. I've tried the other suggestions with no luck. I'm tearing my hair out over this one!

I've uninstalled/ reinstalled it, and that seems to have cured it.
