Title: Can MC12 selectivly apply the CROP Aspect Ratio setting?
Post by: jmone on May 18, 2007, 11:54:10 pm
I think I know the answer (no) but here is hoping!  - I've got some 4:3 format music video clips that have black bars top and bottom...the effect on my 16:9 TV is I have BOTH black bars Top (Letterbox) and Sides (Pillarbox).  Media Center's "Aspect Ratio > Crop" works very well in zooming in on these ones and it fills my screen.  However I ONLY want crop to appear for these ones, and all the rest stay on "Aspect Ratio > Source Aspect Ratio".

Is there such a thing as "Intelligent Crop" where MC can detect a full black boarder and apply the CROP aspect ratio selectivly.  Any other ideas also welcome (and I know I could edit the offending clips but I'm just not that keen!)

Thanks
Nathan

You already know the answer but I am giving it to you again. It is No.  ;D

This question is raised before, and is a good one. I think we will need to add this feature sometime in the future, i.e. saving aspect ratio setting to database so MC remembers the setting for each file. This is not the same as what you asked for (intelligent crop), but should serve the purpose. I can not promise you when it will become available. But I would say definitely in version 13  ;D (still Matt and Jim have final say  :D).

Thanks Y - it would work to tag them in the DB (I now do this for offending Audio files requiring selected EQ settings!)
