Title: vista crashes - possible fix
Post by: newflavour on May 20, 2007, 09:55:13 pm
I've read various different issues regarding vista and both MC11 and MC12. I experienced pretty much all of them. I did most of the recommended fixes but nothing seemed to work. I've since done some things and have not had any issues since.

What did I do?

right click the MC shortcut >> get properties

I then changed the application compatibility to "windoze xp" and also checked the box that says "run this as administrator".

click ok.

run MC.

I hope this works for you as it has for me.

Tried this too, but no change - MC12 crashes every time I run it under Vista 64.

Make sure you try the latest build from the top of this board.  Lots of users (and JRiver developers) are running Vista.  You shouldn't need any special Vista settings.

Does it run long enough that you could enable logging and post the tail end here?

Running on Vista64 on AMD with 12.0.226 and no special settings with no trouble whatsoever. Are you running without addon plugins? How about external devices (USB flash, mp3 players, etc)?? It looks totally solid on this end.

Note, we are running a Saphire Radeon x550 with current drivers.

Problem seems to have gone away after moving to the .239 release. Nothing else has changed on the computer, so hopefully it won't reoccur.
