Title: Foxy Tunes?
Post by: benn600 on May 26, 2007, 01:05:30 pm
Whenever I close MC with Firefox open, Foxy Tunes seems to cause Firefox to crash.  I would like to use Foxy Tunes because it is very handy but I can't deal with this constant crashing.  Is there any way J River could hack the system so it doesn't crash Firefox or should I bug Foxy Tunes?

I have the same issue. I stopped using Foxy Tunes because of this.

My guess is that this is a Foxy Tunes issue, not an MC issue. Assuming that is correct, I would not expect the JRiver team to try to fix it.

I suggest you report it to Foxy Tunes.  If they fix it, let us know. I'm sure there is more than 2 of us having this problem.

I sent them a message:

Thanks for such a great plugin!  I am having trouble using Foxy Tunes with my primary media organizer--J River Media Center.  When I close Media Center while Firefox is still open, I get an error message in Firefox reading this:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!
Program: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusual way.  Please contact the application's support team for more information.

Any fixes or patches would be greatly appreciated!

They claim that they get a lot of comments and it will take them a while to respond.  I should have included a direct URL to the demo MC download so they would easily be able to install it and locate the bug.

I did too a few weeks ago, but no reaction at all.

Today I received a reaction from Foxy Tunes.
They only ask if the error happens too with other players.
The only other player I have is Windows Media Player and it does not happen with that player.

Install the Firefox version, then install the IE version.
You can now use Foxy, Firefox and MC without any crashing problems.... At least it worked on 2 computers for me

Edit:  If you want, you can email him back and tell him it only happens with MC and the FF plugin... If you have both installed it doesn't crash.

I installed FoxyTunes for IE, but Firefox is still crashing.

Edit: I did forget to configure FoxyTunes IE for MediaCenter. Now I did and it seems that FireFox isn't crashing anymore. I hope it stays that way. Today I reported this to FoxyTunes.
Edit 2: Bad luck. Firefox with FoxyTunes is crashing again when closing MediaCenter!!
