Title: Problems with Replacing a DVD drive --Solved
Post by: LonWar on June 15, 2007, 07:47:46 pm
Hello... I replaced 1 of my DVD drives today, and when I turned the computer back on, the old drive is still being displayed in My Computer, and the new drive is listed as
a new letter.

ie:  Before
DVD    Drive D
DVD    Drive E

Now

Dvd Drive D
CD Rom Drive E (This is a non-existant Drive)
DVD Drive H

So, how do I get rid of the Drive E entry?

Thanks,

Try Control Pannel > System > Hardware > Device Manager

Right Click On Something

Scan For Hardware Changes.

I tried that, and no go... I also uninstalled the 2 Drives, then used Scan for new hardware, and I still have 3 Drives.

I ran a registry cleaner, and that didn't work either.

Somehow Power ISO mounted a drive to the letter that the uninstalled drive was on... Killed that, and now that drive no longer appears.
