Hi,
I still have the problem that I mentioned in the .251 build (http://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php?topic=40931.msg280144#msg280144)
Is anyone else seeing it? The exact problem seems to be that it truncates the converted filename at the the last ". " (dot-space) in the original filename. So for example:
"01 - Sweet Dreams My L.A. Ex.flac" becomes "01 - Sweet Dreams My L.A.mp3"
Any ideas anyone?
Update: It also seems to no longer be tagging any of the converted files :(

Is your flac decoder up to date?
-
Yup I have the latest version of both the encoder and decoder (2.2.2 / 2.3.0).
A straight conversion from FLAC to MP3 using the Convert Format option seems to work fine, as I just tried it to make sure. It seems just to be the handheld conversion cache which is not working.
I've also tried clearing the cache, just in case, and it's definitely no longer tagging any of the converted files.
I did recently update the FLAC decoder version. I tried reverting to version 2.2.2 but this didn't help; still getting filename truncation and no tags added.
-
I can't reproduce the problem.
I just tried these two files:
01 - Sweet Dreams My L.A. Ex.flac
02 - Sweet Dreams My L.A. Ex.ape
Both converted mp3 files were correctly named and tagged in the cache folder and in the destination folder (I used a folder as a handheld in this test.)
MC12.0.259 and In_FLAC 2.3.0.
Please explain how you have configured your Handheld options in Options > Handheld and try also some other source file format like APE.

Hi,
Thanks for taking a look.
I've just tried the following:
1) Using APE files as the file source.
2) Uninstalling/Reinstalling MC.
3) Changing the encoder (to OGG)
4) Updating to In_FLAC 2.4.0 (from 2.3.0)
Still getting exactly the same symptoms; truncated filenames with no tags added.
My handheld options are as follows:
Auto-eject: None
Enable album artwork support if possible: Ticked
Get play stats from handheld on connect: Ticked
Conversion
Simultaneous Conversions: 2
Audio
Mode: Convert unsupported formats
Encoder: MP3 Encoder
Encoder Settings... VBR/High Quality Portable
Image
Mode: No conversion
Video
Mode: No conversion
Handheld Conversion Cache
Type: Custom Directory
Cache Directory: I:\ (this is a partition on a local HDD)
Directory Rule: [Artist]\[Album]
Use a separate cache for each handheld: Not ticked
Limit Cache Size to: 0 MBs: Not ticked
My library is stored on a NAS and is accessed via \\nas\media\music\...
If there's anything else you need to know then please let me know :)

Update
I have just tried again with a 'fake' handheld (i.e. I added a folder as a handheld) and I only see the truncation/tag problem when I select the Build Cache for Selected Handheld option. When I perform a normal sync the files are all created OK.
As an aside, I've noticed that that the Build Cache... option only creates one conversion thread regardless of how many simultaneous conversions were specified. Is this by design?
Cheers,
Jim

Sorry to reply again to my own post but is there any update on this? Is it likely to be fixed in .260?
Cheers.
