Title: Which field do I have to populate to get to the field "Work" in iTunes?
Post by: sapnho on June 18, 2007, 11:19:38 pm
As much as I love MC and hate iTunes, I have to use it on a Mac where Parallels isn't running. As I listen a lot to classical music, the field "Work" in iTunes is an important one. In which field in MC do I have to enter "Work" so that after conversion to MP3 it shows up as "Work" in iTunes?

BTW: I always wondered why there isn't a field "work" in MC. Yes, you can user define one, but that should be a standard field, shouldn't it?

Jim/Matt: That can't be that difficult to answer, can it?  ;) Thanks!

I wonder where do you see a "Work" field in iTunes. Possibly you mean the Grouping field. (Or do you use some other than English version?)

The obvious and only possible ID3v2 tag would be TIT1 aka "Content group desciption", which appears in iTunes as Grouping.

TIT1 is not yet supported in MC, but it has been requested a couple of times.

Here is one of the requests and a workaround that I provided:

Also in this thread I suggested that JRiver should add TIT1 support:

In the German version "work" is to left of the BPM field.

We are speaking about the same field. It is "Grouping" in the English version.
