When use Media Center to listen to music and view images in my collection at the same time I get lots of audio glitches. This does not happen when I listen to music with Media Center and use another program to view images at the same time. Is there a fix for this or must I use Media Center only for music?
-
Is there a network connection or network drive involved?
-
Thank's for your swift reply!
My music files are on an external hard drive connected directly to my computer (and no others). My image files are all on my internal hard drive. I also have a wireless home network but none of this material is on it.
-
Strange problem.
Please copy your system info from MC Help and post it here.
Virus checkers can cause similar problems.

Here you go:

Turn these off for testing.
Turn off the virus checker.
Build 259 is at the top of this board. Worth a try.
-
How do I turn those three items off? I tried a couple of things but with no sucess.
Should I install the new build before or after turning these things off?
If my virus software is the problem I would rather not need to replace it.
-
The MC servers are started and stopped under Services and Plug-ins in the tree.
Doesn't matter what order.
-
I'm sorry to appear stupid here but that's the first thing I tried. Nothing I see or do there seems to turn them off. What am I missing?
-
Click on each one and then you'll see a "stop server" button at the top of the window on the right.
-
All three of them say now "Start Server". When I click the button so it says "Stop Server" and check the system info it still says they are "On".
-
If it says start server, the server is off. You can copy your system info again to be sure.
-
OK. All three say "Start Server". Here's the info:

Please try the latest build from the top of this board.
Also, try switching from DirectSound to WaveOut and adjusting buffering in Options > Playback.
-
OK. Done.
All 3 buttons say "Start"

Did adjusting playback settings make a difference?
-
Nope. Sorry. If anything it is worse now. Just opening a folder of photos interrupts the audio for a couple of seconds. This is annoying.
-
Did you disable your virus checker. Some virus checkers are set to check every file every time it's opened.
Also take a look at this thread for other ideas:

Wait! WAIT!
It seems to be working better now. After I wrote you last I tried it some more. Only one or two semi-second glitches and from then on things are fine. I shut down the program and came back in and all is well at this point. No glitches at all!
Here's hoping you've fixed it!!!
