Title: MC12 Refuses to burn
Post by: al werner on June 20, 2007, 10:02:32 pm
Hi,
My new installation of version 12 refuses to burn audio CD's. (v.12.0.251)
It never leaves the "insert blank CD" window (yes, a blank's inserted).
Fails in "test" mode too.  Data CD's burn fine, just Audio CD's hang up.

Sometimes a window quickly flashes by mentioning  "checking playlist...burn rights"?! when I hit OK.
It goes by so fast I can't hardly read it.  It gets covered by a new "inset blank CD window".
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thnx.

Maybe some other CD software is getting in the way?

What kind of files are you trying to burn?  And what kind of disc?  Data or Audio?

Did you try burning a single file?

Tried the latest build (and v233 too) - no change
Tried enable/disable the DVDmulti-RAM driver - no change
Tried enable/disable XP's CD-Burn (in drive properties tab) - no change
Tried enable/disable ANY of the burn options (DSP, volume leveling etc.) - no change

kind of files? Any Music (ripped with the same drive - no problem there)
kind of disc? CD-Rs that work with MC11 and any other burn software on this same drive
Data or Audio? as above, Data CD's burn fine, just Audio CD's hang up. If I switch to Data-CD mode it'll burn the same playlist just fine...
The hang up starts when I hit the Burn button, and it just continually asks "Blank media needed - Please insert a blank CD" <yes, there's a good blank in the drive>
The hangup occurs even with "test" mode toggle on.
BTW, if volume leveling is enabled, the replay gain and adjustment values are zero, regardles of playlist containing analysed or un-analysed files.
When MC11 was installed in this same OS it did not exhibit this problem.
Again, thnx.

Enable logging on the Help menu (make sure "CD" is checkmarked). Try to burn a CD. Send the log file to johnt @ jriver.com
I'll see if there's any clue in the log file and reply here.
I assume you don't have any software running that might be automatically formatting the CD upon insertion.
