Title: Minor Interface Bug
Post by: RandyS on August 21, 2002, 07:33:01 pm
When skins are turned off _and_ Media Jukebox starts up maximized, the client area of the toolbars is not painted with the background color - it's solid white. Doing anything to cause a repaint corrects it (i.e. dragging a window over it, or doing a restore-then-maximize).

Just a minor problem, but I thought I should report it. Is this the correct place for reporting bugs?

Thanks,
Randy W. Sims

This may be a video driver problem.

Not a new problem. A number have people have commented on this one since version 8 came out. I've got the same problem myself and have had it since I upgraded to 8.

And it still could be a video driver problem.  Try switching video cards.

There's some weird MJ |PLS| driver interaction, because it only happens on certain computers with certain video chipsets.

We haven't been able to reproduce it in house, so it's a tough one to fix.

Good thing skinned mode looks so darn nice though ;)

In my case I use a Radeon 64 VIVO. MJ 8 has done this with all versions that I've used since I upgraded from 7.2 (never happened with 7.2) and all Radeon video driver sets that I've used. Personally I don't find it a major problem as I don't usually start the program in a maximized state but I can see how it might annoy some folks.

I came across this problem when I first tried MJ several years ago.  The computer I had at the time had an STB video card.  It now happens on my 2 year old Dell system with a Geforce card.  It also happens on two Dell laptops that a friend of mine owns.  I have no idea what video chipset they use.

Matt,

I get it on:

1)  My W2K server machine which has a Radeon chipset in it
2)  My work machine that has W2K pro and a Matrox chipset.

And both these machines have the latest video drivers.

Maybe it's not a driver issue but an OS one?

Feel free to drop me a version of MJ with OutputDebugStrings in it and I'll send you the log if you want to trace it.
