Title: MC12 crash problem
Post by: goatherder on June 28, 2007, 03:08:07 am
It's been a while since I upgraded, and while I like the new features one thing's been bugging (literally) me. MC12 is in my environment extremely crashy. I frequently get 'the memory could not be 'read' errors and I can't tie it down to anything as it happens in just about anything - playback, podcatching, syncing.

I got about one crash a month on MC11. Now it's like one a day. The one thing I didn't do from scratch because I couldn't deal with it was to make MC12 read / upgrade the MC11 library but apart from that it's just a normal install. Any suggestions for stability?

None at all, because you haven't described what you're environment is.

In your next post, tell us about how you use MC.
What file types do you use?
Any networking, library sharing going on?
Theatre view or standard?
Any 3rd party plugins installed?
Click on 'Help' in MC's toolbar and then click on 'System Info' and paste the result here too.
Again, click on Help > Logging and enable logging to file. Next time MC crashes on you, open the logging options again and view the file. Copy and paste the last 30 lines or so of the log into this thread. This will let the jriver team see what was happening immediately prior to your crash.

Please check the threads in my signature.

Copy your system info from MC Help and paste it here.

DirectShow filters are sometimes bad.

TheaterView uses 3D drawing.

Try playing single file types (MP3, for example).
