Title: Transferring Libraries into MC 12

I have about 20,000 music files in MC 11.  One is the master and the other two are sub libraries of around 5000 music files each that are subsets of the master library.

How do I transfer those libaries and their playlists and settings all to MC 12.

Create library backup files in MC11 - one for each library. (File > Library > Backup Library)

On MC12 create new empty libraries to you preferred locations and restore the backup files:
- load a library > File > Library > Restore Library...
- load another library > File > Library > Restore Library...
- etc...

I'd like to ask a further question to transfering libraries from 11 to 12.  I have about 22K files in my MC11 library.  In that library I have added a new field called STYLE.  Is there any way I can migrate my MC11 library to the new MC12 without losing the new field STYLES?  The same question goes for SMARTLISTS, in that, can I migrate/copy over Smartlists from 11 to 12?  Please help, want to move to MC12 as soon as possible.

First off, you can have both MC11 and MC12 installed and running simultaneously, just download and install MC12, (you may get prompted to uninstall MC11, just click no), then do the restore. As long as MC11 is still registered on your computer you should get whatever upgrade discount you're entitled to.

Add the field "Styles" as you did in MC11, then install (restore) the  new library from your most recent MC11 Library Backup. The "new" library will be stored in Docs Settings/applications/MC12/Library Backups as will future backups.

The smartlists should be there when you do the library restore.

Thank you soooo much.  Worked like a charm and I'm now on MC12.  Greatly appreciated!

....oh, and all my smartlists came through too... Ya, I'm stoked.
