Title: Xbox Media Center Share Trouble
Post by: benn600 on July 01, 2007, 12:45:20 pm
Ever since building my new server (Vista instead of XP), I am unable to get my Xbox w/ Media Center to view my network share drive.  It just constantly asks for my username and password even though I updated everything to the new, correct information.  It appears that Vista is giving me trouble.

Neither Vista or XP, (hacked or not) were intended for use as storage servers.....

What was?

It has worked great for me for a very long time and basically every user here that has a server is using a standard, somewhat inexpensive OS.

There are alot of known bugs with XBMC working with Vista's shares.
As per usual MS didn't fully stick to the standards for SAMBA style file sharing and so causes problems.
Check the XBMC forum for more details on it, I know people were trying to find work arounds - MS is great at making every other app look bad by implementing things wrongly!
