Title: Handheld sync of podcasts to WM6 PPC
Post by: honnt on July 10, 2007, 06:31:12 pm
This is my first exposure to syncing to a WM6 device (the HTC Mogul or PPC-6800), so I don't know what to expect....
Syncing to this device is taking (relatively) forever compared to syncing to my cheap little refurbished SanDisk MP3 player.
I get a reported .3 MB/sec.

Is this normal, or is something set wrong somewhere?

My PocketPC isn't very fast when connected through any connection, including MC.

However, if you pull the memory card and put it in a card reader, MC can still sync to it, and you'll get lightning fast transfers.

Yeah, my WM6 device (HTC S710) is very slow too.

Unfortunately I can't take the memory card out because I use it with DRMed stuff, so I just have to live with it  ::)

Good point.  Media Center (or any other program) can't do subscription or purchased WMA / WMV if you talk straight to the memory card.

Thanks for the responses... I guess a couple of options are before me: 1) continue to have MC manage my podcasts/downloads but use a method other than MC's handheld sync to get the files on my phone, or 2) re-work my schedule in the mornings so that I start the sync, THEN take my shower and get dressed for the day....  ;)

Thanks again,

I don't think any program will be faster than MC.  The bottle-neck is the connection.

Well, don't do anything drastic :P
