Title: Considering buying an Canon EOS 5D
Post by: Mr ChriZ on July 13, 2007, 01:48:10 pm
I'm finally moving away from my film Cameras and
have started to put some pennies towards an EOS 5D.

I've got a feeling these are being discontinued for either
a 3D or 5D Mark ][ although details seem a bit slim at the moment.
I think this will bring the price down of the 5D a fair bit anyhow.

I've come to the conclusion that these cameras are way
cheaper over in the US than the UK.
Out of curiosity where do you guys go to buy photographic kit over there?
I'm possibly due to be sent out to the US with work within the next
3 months, if so I might try and pick something up.

Anyone recently bought a 5D, and if so how much for?

Cheers
Chris.

Can't help re: 5D being discontinued as I've not been following Canon so closely for a little while. I have the Mark II (upgraded from the original Digital Rebel - yeah, a substantial upgrade!) and have been extremely happy with it. I'd be surprised if the next 5D is a 5D Mark II since the 5D is a full-size sensor (no magnification factor) while the Mark II's have a 1.3 mag factor. But who knows??

B and H in New York City is a place I'd recommend. Their web site is very good, I've had very good online ordering experience with them, and I hear the store in Manhattan is a place to visit when there's LOTS of time for browsing. It's huge.

Good luck
