Title: compatibility with Russound CAV6.6 UNO-S1 and S2 keypads?
Post by: allsop9 on August 03, 2007, 02:58:50 pm
I was hoping someone could help me. I have a Russound CAV6.6 system with UNO-S1 and UNO-S2 keypads. I don't want to buy a server, so I wanted to store all my music on the computer. I wanted to see if I could use the MC software and use the UNO-S1 or S2 keypads to select and change the music on the computer. Is that possible with this software? if so, what else will I need? I really appreciate anyone's help with this. I am very glad I found this forum. Thanks

Mike

I think you're going to like this answer:

From the FAQ on the Media Center 12 board

Zoner/Hyslopc's Multi-zone with Russound CAV6.6 in-wall keypads
http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=534233.

I've only recently heard of the UNO keypads, but try reading or asking over there.

Yes, MC12 + my free software + an RS-232 cable is all you need.  Check out the thread Jim posted - you'll find all the info you need there, including a link to download the software.

Thanks, Carl.

Zoner or hyslopc, as he is known on AVSForum, is the author of the software.

Thanks for MC12 and hyslopc's cav6.6 plugin!!

I finally had the time to set it up last weekend, and it works great.

Thank you very much for pointing me to the link about the CAV6.6 I tried going to the accessories page to download the CAV6.6 exe link software to Russound, but it says the server has been moved so the page doesn't have anything on it. Does anyone know where I can find that software to link MC to Russound CAV6.6 Thank you for your help, I appreciate it.

Zoner, top notch program. Thank you for your efforts and work.  Especially, thank you for sharing your work with the rest of us. It is greatly appreciated. Just added MC12 to my CAV 6.6 and this is the way to go.  9000+ songs on my laptop and all selectable from each keypad.  It rocks.

BTW, have you figured out a way to keep MC12 from creating the automatic Group "Recent Playing Now's"?  It is a pain to have that group added when using the playlist mode on the keypad.

Tools->Options->General->Advanced->Features->[ ] Recent Playing Nows

Wow, that must be a highly guarded secret! :)

Will the CAV plugin also work with the CAM? I'd assume they are basically using the same transport?

Based on this post (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=8882660#post8882660) in the AVS forum thread (http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?p=8882660) it seems to work with the CAM.  The creator hyslopc seems to have disappeared though...  Was hoping he'd release the source, so I could try and modify it to work with the new Nuvo E6G whole house audio system.
