Title: Duplicate Finder Plugin
Post by: pilotbum on August 11, 2007, 11:26:35 am
In one of my previous versions of MC I could swear that there was a duplicate finer plugin that would help find duplicate media for cleanup. Does anyone know if it is possible to get a copy of it or why it is no longer available?

there is a option in MC12 to find dupes

I think They Are

~Dups
~NoDups

The Plug-In Did Not Work All That Good.

About That Same Time Matt Added The Dupe Finder To MC

I Had The Source Code For It, Not Sure If I Still Do.

PS. I Did Not Create It.

you can use the smartlist editor or use something like this

~dup=[Name]

In the Search Box

The Smart List Editor Has A Few Bugs In It

Like This Sample On Multi Fields, What The Smart List Editor Does Is Incerts This:

~dup=[Name] ~dup=[Duration]

Into The Search Field, But It Does Not Work.

Now If You Manualy Use: ~dup=[Name],[Duration]

In The Search Box This Does Work

Oh... I'm iterested in a dup finder that would help find the dups in my collection so that I may clean up my library. There used to be a plugin for previous versions that did a decent job of this, but it's no longer available I guess.

I don't remember a plugin, but there was (still is?) a default smartlist called 'possible duplicates' that went something like:

[media type]=audio ~dup=[name],[artist] ~sort=[artist],[name]

How I manage mine ---> http://www.theganghut.co.uk/mc/dupes/

Familiarity with the workings of MCs view schemes and smart list rules will greatly help understand what's going there, and while it takes a while to get the initial setup done, after that, management is really just a 'once every three months or so' job. Still works well for me today, and I've since added a few more panes that allow me to pick an album and see how many of its tracks are excluded from smartlist selection.

There is a good flexible dup finder in the Search (wizard): "only duplicates of" - and then you have a nice field checklist (multiple fields allowed)
