Title: Surround Sound
Post by: evilhobo on August 12, 2007, 04:29:19 am
I can't seem to get 5.1 audio working in MC 12.

I have 5.1 speakers connect using analogue connections to my sound card and surround sound is working when playing the same media using other programs (such as Nero? Showtime).

When playing the exact same dvd, (whether from an actual disk or from hard drive), i only ever get sound from the front 2 speakers when using MC12.

Is there a setting somewhere to fix this?

If you have selected a 5.1 mode in the DVD setup menu then the used DirectShow audio decoding filter is configured to output 2 channel stereo or possibly it has only this mode. MC uses external DirectShow filters for DVD playback.

Check this Wiki page for more info: http://wiki.jrmediacenter.com/index.php/DirectShow_Playback_Guide

You may be able to fix the problem by installing the recommended CCCP codec pack and configuring the included FFDShow audio decoder filter to handle AC3 and DTS audio decoding.
