Title: Cannot connect to media server
Post by: sle118 on August 16, 2007, 04:15:39 pm
I have a server running MC12. I have been using a client connected to Media Server for several days but the setup stopped responding for an unknown reason. I tried to restard the server and the client but there is no sign of connection being established from the client when restarting MC12. The server is running correctly.

When trying to go in tools-advanced tools-media server, on the client, nothing happens!

What's wrong??

Thank you!

Firewall?

Maybe the server address changed?

I did not install a firewall on the server. when attempting to connect to server using a browser, I get Error sharing file, no file requested which is a sign that the server is running and listening (right?).

I tried activating the logs and then go to tools-advanced tools-media server but there was no log produced?!?

How can I troubleshoot this?

Are you running a web server on the server side?  By default, MC runs on port 80, which a web server also uses.

You could try moving the server to a different port (81, for example).

What happens if you let the MC client search for servers?

There is no server (other than MC) on port 80.  How do I let the client search for servers? When going in the media server menu in the advanced tools, nothing happens!

Try File/Library/Search for ...

What version of MC are you using?  You can copy your system info from MC Help and paste it here.

Both sides need to run the same version.
