It would be cool if there was a feature like the auto-import that would auto-fill properties from filename & auto-rename files from properties according to priorities...
What I always do is, when I add a new album in my library, I "fill properties from filename" to get the album name from the directory name
and then I fix the track numbers, artist fields and track names and rename files from properties...
Would be cool if there was a way to automate that...

I just discovered the "Fill track numbers from list order" option. It fills in the track numbers in the correct collumn for you.
It's very handy when the file names contains track numbers!. Before that I did that manually - took forever.
This is one of the reasons that I like MC

This has been requested a few times before, and I agree... So long as you can define auto-fill rules on a per-import-directory basis.
For example, some of my folders have very rigidly defined file naming rules, and they could certainly be used to auto-fill. However, not all of them do, so I wouldn't want ALL of my auto-import folders to apply rules. Plus, even among those that do have rigidly defined naming, they don't match... My music follows one set of rules, TV recordings another, and movies another (and so on and so forth).

Count me in as wanting to see this feature added sometime. Glynor's suggestion especially. It would save me a ton of time.

I was searching the forum for a way to auto fill properties on import. Was this ever implemented?

Not that I'm aware of.

Try the Library Tools.
Fill Properties from Filename
and
Rename Files from Properties (this can also move your files)
Select a few audio tracks and right click to get there.
Try a few before you do very many.

Thanks, but this doesn't help to fill properties on import (unless I've misunderstood)

Correct.
Having a way to set this up in an automated fashion would be the bomb-sniggety!
