I got an e-mail from f.y.e. this morning announcing a new player for their music download service.
I don't subscribe to the service but out of curiosity I downloaded the player - guess who makes it.
Congratulations.

Thanks for letting us know. We knew it was coming, just not exactly when. More to come.
Here's a link to the service:

So in a nutshell, are these different media companies essentially competing with iTunes with purchase to download music services? Do they all use DRM and have the big labels? When you, J River, provide a player to these companies, is it just a moderately reasonable MC player that seems very stable? Do you remove features and provide a simpler player for the general audience these services may target?

Yes.

Are there any plans to add fye to Media Center as a service plugin?
And how much does the fye service cost? It seems I can't get the dollar amount without downloading the player and I'd rather not dl something just to get a price.

I'd download a derivative of MC even if I didn't know what planet it was being served from.

I want to try this out - is there any risk of causing trouble with MC if both programs run on the same computer?

No. Just don't run them at the same time.
