I'm baffled again. From Library Manager MJ 8 tries to backup my library to my F: drive CD-RW. Says backup failed.
1. What is it trying to backup--the actual MP3/OGG etc. files or just the MJ 8 database links to those files?
2. I have all my files in one library--currently about 1200 tracks--roughly 6 GB and growing. Do I need to break this up into smaller library units for backup?
3. Is there a best practices article anyplace that treats this and other MJ 8 file management issues?
Thanks...

Maybe, Due To Your Limited Disk Space.
Also Clean Out The Recycle Bin It May Help.

When you back up, choose a different location.

Sorry. I don't understand. I've got plenty of space remaining on my HD--over 24 GB free.
I'm clueless on this. What does the MJ backup do? Does it backup the actual MP3 etc. files? Or just the MJ database links to those files?
When the MJ backup failed I was attempting to backup to a CD-R.
I usually backup (copy) the music data files to a set of CD-Rs along with the rest of my data once every two weeks or so. What I'd like to do in MJ is just backup the MJ Library organization, playlists, genres, tags, ratings, etc.--the database. The actual music files I'll burn in Nero.
I don't get Jim's reply about a "different location?"

Exactly.
And you can't write a file straight to a CDR, so you'll have to save the backup somewhere on your hard drive, and then burn it off to CDR.
