Title: How do I get MC12 to play MOV files?
Post by: BartMan01 on August 25, 2007, 03:48:38 pm
In the 'DirectShow Filters' I don't see 'mov' as a file type, but eveything there is checked.  When I try to play a mov in MC12 it tells me that I need to install Quicktime.  If I send the file to WMP11 or mplayer it plays back fine (using Haali/FFDSHOW).  What do I need to change to get MC12 to play back the MOV files?

You need to install Quicktime.  I think there's a link in the FAQ here.

So no way to play MOV files through MC12 w/o Quicktime installed?  Even though they play using ever other media player on my system?

It does plays in MC12 but it uses the Quicktime engine not Direct Draw but you will not really notice the difference from a UI perspective.  FYI - If you right click on a MOV file when it is playing it bring up the usual menu and you will see that under player it just has quicktime.
Thanks

If the other programs can play mov through DS perhaps Yaobing should add the mov file type to the DS options.

Since mov is a container format FFDShow's capability to decode mov files may depend on the used compression format, but it would be good to have that option.
