Currently the main search applies to all split views. This makes it difficult to see what it happening on one view that you don't want to search (particularly playing now). It would be nice if the search only applied to the currently focused view, and if the focus switches to the other view, then the search switches to that view.

Exactly!
I found it little intuitive, and a bit confusing, the way it works today.

Yes, I am a relatively new MC user and have found this to be disturbing. The biggest problem is that the playing now window doesn't show the tracks that are there, and it causes a lot of confusion.
In Musicmatch, the search box only affected the main view. I use a 3 column view, with the center being the library (main) view, and the narrower right pane being playing now.
I think having the search apply to the currently active screen would be great! If it said "Search Playing Now" or "Search Audio" or "Search all", or even have a pulldown menu to select which pane to search.

Yeah I agree. I'd much prefer the search to apply only to the active window.
