Title: Native tongue
Post by: prod on August 26, 2007, 06:31:40 pm
Call me anal (please don't), but I got carried away with a "translation" from "English" to "English (British)". Originally I just wanted to change my "Toggle Theater View" toolbar button to merely "Theater View". Anyway, like I said, got carried away, and started changing "ize" to "ise", "yze" to "yse", "color" to "colour", "theater" to "theatre", and other such transatlantic variations. If you believe it's appropriate and people may want it, let me know where to send it. Otherwise, feel free to delete this post.  :-[  I should get out more.

I reckon I could take this even further with some regional Northern England offerings, but don't worry I won't. :)

:) Lived in Arlington, TX for a few years. Could have picked it up from there.

Good night y'all.  ;)

Please nooo.....
Reminds me of an audiobook I have where an American reader has tried to do a Northern English accent- What actually comes out is a cringeworthy mix of Geordie slang with a strong Welsh accent  :o
No idea where he got that idea from!

Anglicising the translation is a good idea though, please :)

I'm going to have to bury the word tire somewhere in MC now, just because I like the british spelling.

I'm Mancunian (the blue side) and the missus is a Geordie so there's a hybrid northern sound going on in the house. Don't worry I won't do anything regional - until I finish my Andy Capp themed skin, that is. ::)

I think People Talk Too Much.

I Am Not A Talker, I Would Be A Bad Talk Radio Show Host.

I Do Tend To Like The British Accent

We'll finally have a translation that will appeal to the PBS lovers of the world.

:) No worries, I've sent a new version off to Matt - I'd missed the words "behavior" and "favor". Think it's complete now. I've left Media Center as Media Center, it's a name and Media Centre just looks wrong.
