Usually a quick way to get a correct answer posted after a long wait, is for someone to give an incorrect answer.  This may or may not be correct, we'll see.

You cannot download music to Sony's MiniDisc format. It must be recorded by the MiniDisc recording device in real time. - One device plays the music while the MiniDisc recorder connected to it records.

We're constantly adding support for such devices, but it takes cooperation from the manufacturers.  Sony has chosen not to assist us.

You might let Sony know what you want.

Thanks Jim.

Do you have a link into Sony? or an Email contact that we could petition?

Cheers

I'll write to whomever you suggest, Jim, to encourage Sony's cooperation in providing MD device support.

some of the newer new 'net' MD's have a USB port but this of course is of no help to owners of older MD equipment.  However the Sony website has a page for net MD support and a mail link the address is
http://www.ita.sel.sony.com/support/netmd/

I've also heard that Sony is ditching the format altogether (Steve Wright, BBC radio 2) can anyone shead any more light on this?  Seems a shame really as with a little more insight MD would have been the ideal superfloppy much better than CDRW, Zipdrive etc.
